Robbo - Studio Report  - Session No. 3 - Done And Dusted

Saturday December 20th 2008

The third session is now complete and it is just sounding better and better.

We started in January and recorded "Do It Till We Drop", "Blues Boy" and "Linger My Love" which were great, but it felt like it was very much on a standard level for Robbo.

Session No.2 in October with Leif Sundin (MSG) on vocals took everything up to a higher level with "Mail Box", "It's Only Money" and "That's All" and we all felt that we were on the right track and wanted to carry on as soon as possible.

The Third Session done this week was unfortunately a little bit rushed as we had no rehearsal time and the boys didn't really have any chance to hear the songs before we entered the studio.

We lost one day, down to rehearsing and rewriting the songs but it came out quite good.

"Devil In My Soul", "Passion" and "Texas Wind" were tracks that Robbo had in mind for The Hellfire Club in the late Eighties, but they have been brought up to a modern standard with our rhythm section of Ian Haugland (Europe) and Nalle Påhlsson (Treat).

With keyboards and piano laid down by Robbo and producer Chris Laney and lots of guitars by Robbo, it now sounds great and I am willing to say that it is the best session we've done so far. There's still some backing vocals missing by Robbo and Linnea Helgé as well as some percussion by Ian, but we have definitely hit something here.

We have to make firm plans with Linnea Helgé to finish all the backing vocals with Robbo during the final sessions.

Some of you will think that it has taken Robbo twenty-five years to complete a solo album … and whether you're right or wrong, I can tell you that it will be worth the wait.

This is going to be a serious album.

2008 has been a great year for me working with Robbo and I just want to say "Thank You!" to all the people involved.

From the musicians and technicians involved in the studio to all you guys at the Rock Legend Forum and journalists like Dave Ling and Jorgen Hölmstedt who have been very supportive all the way through. And to Michael Johansson who has been documenting progress for a long time.

Not to forget all the wonderful people at Luthmans, Ingolf and all the crew at Sweden Rock Festival and Annie our massage specialist.

Our next recording session is planned for February and will include some serious mixes of the best tracks to start pushing the album out to the right labels.

We will also be having some serious talks with Martin Lundström about the cover work of the album.

The current working title of the album is "100mph With The Brakes On".

As Executive Producer I have never had so much fun, the time I spent in the studio with all these wonderful people is a very welcome distraction from my ordinary life.

All the Best and Yodel from a very tired Sören

PS: All my love goes out to My, Bella, Angelica, Sara, Sandrine & Andrea
